Insiders Guide

A page in the Sun

This old town tradition has the best organic-home roasted coffee and selection of used English books probably in all of Puerto Vallarta. The family café is warm, friendly and obsessively hygienic.

Art Walk: Art for Art´s sake

This Wednesday night multiple-art-gallery open house with complementary hors d'oeuvre and wine is bound to impress. Local, National and International artists, from the banal to the sublime are show-cased. Not to be missed.

Bar La Noche

A martini Lounge catering to the well heeled and the less-so of Vallarta´s pink mafia. Kevin, the owner has a heart of gold but his choice of artistic and vacation videos could be more inspired.

Club Mañana

It’s not like Ibiza in any stretch of the imagination, but it´s really the only club for the sexually alternative and their friends. The music is predictable, the alcohol questionable and the bathrooms should be cleaner, but it is open air and features a pool, so liquor yourself up and you are bound to enjoy.

Cuale Paradise

On the upper side of the Rio Cuale island, a moments walk from the center of town, this family run restaurant serves an international-mexican menu. Without a doubt, the spectacular riverside view makes this restaurant a must see.

Any Cabbie should know how to get there. On the river Cuale before the tunnel on the new section of highway.

Garbos

More entertaining than fun, this piano-bar-cum-lounge caters to all people from all walks of life. If drinking is your game, grab a stool and join in.

La Bodegita del Medio

You may not be able to dance salsa when you arrive, but you’ll certainly think you can by nights end. The fun is infectuous as the live Cuban band lets it rip and the fun begins. Prepare to sweat.

Las Carmelitas

Nestled high in the Sierra Madres mountains, this mediocre restuarant offers a spectacular city view with unrivalled sunsets. Don't go for the food, have a margarita and keep it at that.

Mariscos Cisneros

A rustic little eatery complete with Corona branded plastic chairs and peeling paint. Try the Outstanding seafood stuffed chili-pepper tacos. Social slumming at its best.

Punto V

Rumours abound about the feud between the 2 brothers that own Mandala/Hilo/Glam and the latest addition to the Puerto Vallarta Malecon club scene: Punto V. Who cares if they are true, this town loves a good gossip, and if you go to punto V you might even become the gossip. Sadly more of the same with their video-djs, but the chandalier adds a touch of class late at night.

The Deli

A small pret-a-porte restaurant, virtually the only one in Vallarta. The deli is bot afraid of spicing things up, despite its limited selection of plates. An excelent choice for an uncomplicated meal.
