Beach Vendors

Many a Vallarta retail empire has begun on the beach. You will find everything from silver and gold jewelry to sarongs, from beach blankets, to tacky tourist trinkets, from fresh cooked lobster to fish-on-a-stick. But is it safe? Yes, generally, but use your head. Grab the fish vendor closest to the fire-pit ensuring , oysters at 5:00 PM? Unless trade has been brisk, probably not… Try Jicama (Hee-ca-ma) and Cucumber with chili, lime and salt. Bartering is part of the fun, but do so respectfully. It’s a hard job walking 8 hours a day on hot sand at the peak of day.
